The Mumbai police reportedly persuaded Faisal Khan, film star Aamir Khan's [Images] brother, to get admitted to a hospital for psychological treatment on Wednesday night.

This was after Aamir Khan filed a petition to the police saying Faisal, who also is an actor, was sending threatening letters to him and other family members.

Sources said neither Aamir nor any other family member could persuade Faisal to get admitted. Aamir then approached the Khar police station in the western suburb of Mumbai with the letters and sought help.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Khar, Amitabh [Images] Gupta said, "Aamir Khan used to receive some letters from a known person, which he forwarded to us."

The police are yet to decide whether to bring those letters on record, the sources said.
