President A P J Abdul Kalam has refused to accept honoris causa from the Patna University in the convocation where he is expected to grace the occasion scheduled for next Friday.

Patna University Vice Chancellor Professor S Ahatsamuddin told UNI that Dr Kalam was not used to accepting any such honour from any quarter and hence refused.

He said that secretary to the President of India communicated wishes of Dr Kalam to him over telephone.

"The secretary also insisted that the president would not like to use any ornamental epithet in the form of His Excellency while referring to the President'', the VC said.

Earlier, Patna University senate had resolved to confer D.Sc.
