British MP from Leicester East, Keith Vaz met Inspector General of Police (Jalandhar zone) Hardip Singh Dhillon in connection with the murder of UK-based British national Mohan Singh.

The UK government had urged the Indian government to instruct its investigating agencies to solve the murder of NRI Mohan Singh of Bhanoki village. Singh was allegedly beaten to death by unknown assailants on August 18 at a 'dhaba' near Phillaur.

Vaz is also likely to meet Union home ministry officials in New Delhi Tuesday to discuss the case. He will also be meeting Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh and Director General of Police S S Virk to urge them for a speedy investigation.

Dhillon said he had assured the British MP of a fair, transparent investigation in the case.

The IG said he had instructed Deputy Inspector General of Police (Jalandhar Range), Paramjit Singh Gill to form a 10-12 member investigation team to solve the case. Dhillon said that a Special Investigation Team headed by Senior Superintendent of Police, Jalandhar, Ishwar Singh was already working on the case.
