Seven out of 10 Lok Sabha members have responded to show cause notices issued to them by the Inquiry Committee, appointed by Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, to go into the cash-for-query scam.

Seven Lok Sabha MPs, including Manoj Kumar (Rashtriya Janata Dal) and Ram Sewak Singh (Congress), have responded to the notices, Committee sources told PTI in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The deadline to respond to showcause notices ended at 10:30 am on Wednesday.

Chairman of the committee P K Bansal said Manoj Kumar's reply to the show cause notice had been received, adding responses from other members would be known by noon. He said the five-member Committee would meet later in the day to take stock of the situation.

However, he said today's meeting is only preliminary in nature as the Committee had been given time till December 21 to take a decision.
