Maharashtra to clean up cyber mess

The Maharashtra government is considering to make viewing of obscene material at internet cafes a non-bailable offence, Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhetre told thelegislative councilon Tuesday.

The relevant laws would have to be amended for this, he added.

Replying to questions during a discussion on a calling-attention motion from Neelam Gorhe of the Shiv Sena, Mhetre said the state government would form a committee of experts to examine ways and means of preventing the display of obscene material in internet cafes.
