December 12, 2005 17:54 IST

A Jodhpur court Monday issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Salman Khan in the black buck poaching cases of 1998 after rejecting his plea for exemption from personal appearance.

However, actor Satish Shah, another accused in the case, appeared in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate B K Jain, the counsel for Bollywood stars, Hastimal Sarswat, told PTI over phone from Jodhpur.

After debating Salman's leave of exemption from personal apperance due to ill health, the court rejected it, he said.

Jeevan Ram Choudhary, additional director prosecution, objected to Salman's repeated appeals for permission of exemption from personal appearance in the court, Sarswat said.

The hearing in the two cases was adjourned till January 12.

Two cases of black buck (Chinkara) poaching were filed by the forest department against the Bollywood actors with the Mathania police station on October 11, 1998.
