PM to respond on Volcker issue on Thursday December 09, 2005 02:14 IST Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will respond in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday to clarify his statement on the Volcker issue, Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi said. He said the government has plans to bring in Parliament next week a bill seeking to restore reservation in admissions in private educational institutions. A suitable date for bringing forward the measure in Parliament would be decided after consultations with various political parties as it was a Constitution Amendment Bill requiring presence of two third members of the House. Members cutting across party lines had demanded such a measure in the wake of a Supreme Court judgment that declared reservation in such institutions illegal. Complete Coverage: The Volcker Drama
