The death toll in rain-related incidents and floods caused by breaches in the irrigation tanks in Andhra Pradesh has risen to 21.

15 lives were lost in Chittoor while Nellore districts reported six deaths.

Incessant rains, due to the depression in the Bay of Bengal, have wrecked havoc in Nellore, Chittoor and Kadapa districts with several tanks being breached.

Thousands of acres of agricultural land are submerged and thousands have been rendered shelterless. The administration has set up special relief camps and is providing food, clothing, water and shelter to the displaced.

Flood water from Chittoor and Kadapa districts inundated several villages in the sea-facing Nellore district.
