The top leadership of the Bhartiya Janata Party will meet on Monday to take a decision on the reply sent by Uma Bharti in response to the show cause notice served to her by the party, asking her why she should not be expelled from the party for breaking discipline.

"We will meet on Monday afternoon to take a decision on her reply. We received the reply on Sunday afternoon," said Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, one of the vice-presidents of the party, who had signed the show cause notice to Bharti.

According to party sources, Bharti has sent a four-page reply to the party leadership and its contents are almost identical to what she has been spelling out during her press conferences and interviews on television.

She has demanded immediate ban on the off-the-record briefings by Pramod Mahajan and Arun Jaitley, who are the main targets of her attack. She has pleaded with party president L K Advani and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee not to remain mute spectators and act.

Earlier, the senior leaders of the party were expected to meet on Sunday but since Uma did not send her reply on Saturday, the meeting had to be postponed. The party leadership is also watching the public response to her Ram Roti yatra.
