As many as 137 of Jehanabad district prison's 389 inmates, who had escaped from Jehanabad jail after the Maoist attack on November 13, were on Wednesday declared absconders and a first information report was registered against them.
The inmates included Communist Party of India-Maoists area commander Ajay Kanu, the alleged mastermind of the audacious jailbreak incident, official sources said.
119 of the absconders are from CPI-Maoist outfit, while the rest are members the private militia of upper caste landlords Ranvir Sena, the sources said.
Heeding the warning of the district administration, 252 inmates have so far returned to the prison.
