PM calls on Kalam ahead on Afghan visit

Ahead of his visit to Afghanistan, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] on Saturday called on President A P J Abdul Kalam and discussed various national and international issues.

The meeting, which lasted about half-an-hour, was part of the regular interactions between the two leaders, a Rashtrapati Bhavan [Images] spokesman said.

Dr Singh leaves New Delhi on Sunday on a two-day visit to Afghanistan, the first by an Indian prime minister in 29
years.
