Nineteen people were taken ill following leakage of a chemical gas from a tanker on the outskirt of this town in Haryana on Thursday evening.

The affected people were taken to a hospital after they complained of nausea and breathlessness, a hospital spokesman said.

While four were discharged, 15 were out of danger and were likely to be discharged by morning.

It was suspected that bromine gas had leaked from the tanker, which was going to Dera Bassi in Punjab.
