Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has been re-elected unopposed the party national president on Thursday for the fifth time in a row. However, the formal announcement of Lalu 's re-election to the post would be made on August 29 at the party's national executive meeting in Patna.

Lalu Yadav was the sole applicant for the post when he filed his nomination on Wednesday in the RJD party office, said the returning officer, Ramchandra Purve, declaring his nomination valid.

Lalu Yadav had earlier during the day submitted two sets of papers for the post. Lalu has been holding the post of national president of RJD since the party's inception in 1997.

Only two days ago state RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui was also re-elected unanimously in Patna.

The RJD elected its organisation head from block to district level recently to strenghten the party before assembly polls this year.
