Delhi police has arrested a top Lashkar-e-Tayiba militant from a south Delhi area, a senior police official said on Tuesday.

Abu Razak Masood, the outfit's coordinator in Dubai, was arrested from Zakir Nagar area following a tip off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Ajay Kumar told PTI.

The accused was involved in a blast in Hyderabad some time back and had been declared a proclaimed offender in the case, Kumar said.

Razak, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, had come to the country a fortnight back, Joint Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Karnal Singh said adding, the accused motivated people in Dubai to join militancy.

The planning for the Sai Baba temple blast was done by Razak in Dubai. He was declared a proclaimed offender in the case. One woman was killed in the explosion.

Singh said Razak was also associated with an accused in the 2002 attack on the American Center in Kolkata. Razak had allegedly helped the accused, Amir Raza, to enter Pakistan via Dubai.
