Seven persons, including 3 children, were crushed to death and two injured after a speeding truck ran over them on a footpath, where they were sleeping, in southwest Delhi early Monday morning.

Police sources said the incident took place near Hyatt hotel at around 3 am, when the truck driver lost control of the vehicle.

While Usman, Vinod, Sonu and three unidentified children were killed on the spot, another person succumbed to injuries in the hospital later.

The victims were daily wage labourers.

Meanwhile, the truck driver, Sadhu Saran, has been arrested, police added.
