A woman on Wednesday accused a Delhi police officer of raping her following which the accused was dismissed and arrested.

The 23-year old woman lodged a complaint with Bhajanpura police station in northeast Delhi alleging that 58-year-old Sub Inspector J D Bhardwaj had raped her five days back, police sources said.

The complainant alleged that Bhardwaj had committed the crime by taking her to some secluded place in Khajuri Khas area in connection with inquiry into a complaint of hers, they said.

A case of rape was registered against the sub inspector and he was immediately arrested and dismissed from service, the sources said.

An inquiry has also been initiated into the matter.
