Samajwadi Party Rajya Sabha member Uday Pratap Singh on Thursday demanded that the screening of  'Mangal Pandey' starring Aamir Khan [Images] be banned.

The movie has been accused of innaccurately portraying the hero of the 1857 national uprising.

Pratap Singh raised the demand through a special mention.

He was critical of the manner in which Pandey was shown having a fling with a 'nautch girl'.

Through another special mention, Telugu Desam Party's Rama Muni Reddy Sirigireddy expressed concern over the abuse of the national emblem by a London-based alcoholic beverage company.

He demanded that the government take up the matter with British authorities in this regard.

He said in the past there have been instances of printing photographs of Hindu gods and goddesses in lingerie and ladies' footwear.
