A Mumbai court on Thursday extended till August 26 the police custody of Manish Khatau, son of a prominent industrialist, arrested on charges of knocking down a policeman with his car and seriously injuring him at Marine Drive, Mumbai.

Manish has been booked under charges of attempt to murder and causing hurt by his act, endangering life or personal safety of others.

Seeking his police custody, police said they had booked Manish for attempt to murder since his blood sample and medical reports proved that he was medically in sound condition and was not under the influence of any intoxicants.

Manish, son of Khatau mill owner, had hit 40-year old police constable Jitendra Rokade, who was on a patrol duty at the Marine Drive in early hours of August 14.
