A Central Reserve Police Force jawan allegedly shot dead his senior colleague on Thursday at the residence of Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran in a high security area in New Delhi.

Constable Ganesh Sutar fired at head constable Suresh Dogra around 7:30 am, killing him on the spot, Additional DCP Manish Aggarwal said.

Ganesh fired at Suresh just after returning from his duty at the gate around 0730 hrs, police sources said.

Ganesh was facing departmental inquiry in which Suresh was a witness, Aggarwal said, adding that this may have been the cause of the shooting. Ganesh, who is from Maharashtra, has been arrested.

The body of the deceased has been sent for post-mortem.

Ganesh, who belongs to the 73rd battalion of CRPF, pumped atleast five bullets into Suresh from close range. The bullets hit Suresh in the chest and abdominal area.

A postmortem would reveal the exact number of bullets shot at Ganesh, Aggarwal added.
