Congress President Sonia Gandhi [Images] is likely to meet President George W Bush [Images] at the White House during her US visit in September.
Sonia, who is scheduled to visit New York for a global meet organised by former President Bill Clinton [Images], is likely to extend the visit to Washington.
Gandhi is also likely to meet with members of US Congress.
Bush will be returning to Washington from Texas on September 7. His detailed schedule for the rest of the month will be worked out only after that.
The Congress is currently in recess and will return after Labour Day.
Sonia will be coming to Washington after the warm reception given to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] demonstrated acknowledgement of India as a rising world power.
