Beijing reports first case of rabies in 11 years

Beijingers have been asked to keep an eye on their pet dogs and regularly take vaccine against rabies following the death of a man from hydrophobia.

The man died this week, the first death caused by hydrophobia in this capital city since 1994, the municipal health bureau announced on Friday.
    
The man, 45, was a native of neighbouring Hebei Province. He died of the fatal disease at the Ditan Hospital in Beijing [Images] after being bitten by a pet dog, the bureau said.
