Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh said on Thursday that the state government was giving priority to rehabilitation of the rain-affected persons and taking up corrective actions in the disaster management plan.

After touring the flood-affected areas of the state, Deshmukh told reporters that with proper Centre-state coordination, rehabilitation of those affected by rains would be possible.

"Under natural calamitites of such big magnitude there are bound to be some lapses and we have learnt a good lesson from it," Deshmukh said, adding that a Disaster Management Authority will soon be set up.

He admitted to "certain lapses" in handling of the situation in Thane district. "I am directing the district collector to put things right within the next couple of days," he added.
