Provogue owner arrested in drug case

August 02, 2005 13:38 IST

Salil Chaturvedi, managing director of Provogue, the apparel brand, was on Tuesday arrested in a drugs supply case relating to January 2005, the Mumbai police said.

Chaturvedi's employee was held by the airport police station in Mumbai in January 2005 for transport of cocaine vials, the police said.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of Provogue lounge manager, Vishal Meghnani, who is alleged to have
revealed Chaturvedi's role in the drugs case, the police said.

"We have placed Chaturvedi under arrest in the drugs case and he will be produced in court tomorrow," additional
police commissioner (west) Parambir Singh said.

Two police officers who allegedly assisted Provogue employees to destroy evidence, were arrested by the police last month.
