Infuriated by the failure of the power supplying agency in restoring supply following heavy rains, agitated residents on Tuesday enforced a road blockade in the Kurla area of east Mumbai.

Police sources said hundreds of residents gathered in front of the Gaffoor Manzil intersection on the Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg and brought vehicular traffic to a halt, demanding that power supply in the locality, which went off on July 27 after torrential rains, be restored immediately.

Senior police officials, including Additional Police Commissioner (Central region) Subodh Jaiswal, who reached the spot, came across angry residents who demanded action against the authorities of the agency supplying power to the locality, the sources said.

The agitation which continued for over an hour was called off after police officials promised to take up the matter with the power company.
