Sayeed will head Indian delegation for Fahd's funeral

P M Sayeed, minister of power in Dr Manmohan Singh's [Images] government, will lead the Indian delegation for the funeral of Saudi Arabia's King Fahd (84) who died of pneumonia in a Riyadh hospital on Monday. The funeral is expected to take place on Tuesday.

King Fahd was admitted to hospital on May 27.

According to sources in the External Affairs Ministry, Dr Singh approved the name of P M Sayeed to head the Indian delegation. He will be accompanied by E Ahamed, minister of state for external affairs and Sanjay Singh, joint secretary, Gulf.

The Indian embassy in Riyadh has already been intimated about it and instructed to receive the delegation as and when it arrives there.
