Aftab Ansari, Jamiluddin Nasser and Shakir Akhtar, who were awarded death sentence on Wednesday in the American Center attack case, were on Thursday transferred from the Presidency Jail to the Alipore Central Jail.

The three were transferred for their trial in the shoe baron Partha Pratim Roy Burman abduction case, Inspector General (Prisons) Joydeb Chakraborty said.

He said a special court has been set up for the trial in the Alipore Jail.

Burman was kidnapped on July 25, 2001 from the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass in Kolkata as he was going by car to his factory. He returned home on his own on August 2, 2001.

The trial in the American Center case was held in a special court in the Presidency Jail.

Meanwhile, security agencies in the metropolis are on maximum alert in view of the death sentence awarded to all the seven convicts in the case.
