A Bihar police constable was arrested on Thursday for smuggling a mobile phone into Patna's Beur jail.

Beur jail superintendent confirmed that Udit Choudhary was arrested after he was caught taking a mobile phone, 250g of ganja and some CDs inside the jail.

Patna Superintendent of Police N H Khan told rediff.com the police will take action against the constable. "We may suspend him and jail him," said Khan.

The arrest confirms the suspicion about the nexus between the police and criminals.

Police have, from time to time, seized mobile phones from the jail during raids.

The state government has not yet installed a jammer despite repeated directives of the Patna high court.
