A woman was found dead at Assam Samajwadi Party legislature Anowar Hussain Laskar's house at Dispur on Wednesday, police sources said.

The body of Minu Banik was recovered from the old MLA's hostel number 101.

Banik, a widow, who is the vice-president of the Cachar unit of the party, had traveled along with Laskar to Patna to attend a meeting of party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and returned on April 25.

Since then she was staying in the house of the MLA.

Police found some medicines from her possession and suspect that she was pregnant.

Laskar represents the Sonai assembly constituency.
