Six railway personnel, including a station master and two engineers, have been suspended in connection with Thursday's mishap at Samlaya, which left 17 people dead and over eighty injured.
Commissioner of Railway Safety Prashant Kumar on Saturday began a probe into the accident.
Two officials were suspended on April 21, the day of the accident, while four others were suspended on Friday, Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Shailendra Kumar said.
The suspended railway personnel are: the station master on duty at Samlaya, assistant engineer (signal and telecom), senior section engineer (signal), two signal maintainers posted at B-cabin and a helper.
One of the two signal maintainers, whose error is said to have caused the accident, surrendered before the railway police on Friday.
Commissioner of Railway Safety Prashant Kumar has started recording the statements of some people at the Samlaya railway junction.
He is expected to submit his report within two months.
