The planning commission's draft report for rehabilitation of tsunami-affected areas will soon be placed before the Cabinet for approval.

"We have worked out a comprehensive rehabilitation plan for the tsunami-hit areas. We expect to send the report to the Cabinet within a couple of weeks," chairman of the core group on tsunami rehabilitation, K S Sidhu said.

The group approved the report in its meeting last week.

The core group is an inter-ministerial group with representatives from the five affected states and all ministries concerned like home, rural development, agriculture, urban development and shipping and road transport.

The report was prepared on the basis of the data gathered from affected states, and those provided by non-governmental organisations and central ministries.

Depending upon the extent of damage to infrastructure and livelihood, the report has suggested funding from external agencies like World Bank.
