Udaynath Dakhinaray, who had vowed to marry 100 women, died after marrying 91. He was 84.

Dakhinaray -- who had been suffering from paralysis since an accident about two months ago -- died in Orali village in Keonjhar district of Orissa on Monday.

Several of his wives and children were at his bedside when he died.

Hailing from a family of landlords, Dakhinaray was said to have owned 550 acres.

His first marriage was solemnised when he was studying in Kolkata, but the alliance did not last. Taking the broken marriage as a challenge, Dakhinray decided to marry 100 women.

"He never forced any woman to marry him. Rather, he married them with their consent," Mira, his 90th wife, said.
