The exercise for government formation in Bihar on Saturday gained momentum with senior Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar and Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan holding parleys with state Samajwadi Party chief Dadan Singh alias Dadan Pahelwan.

Soon after Paswan's arrival at Pahelwan's Circular Road house in Patna, Nitish also reached there and the three leaders held a closed-door meeting.

Pahelwan later told reporters that various possibilities of government formation were discussed.

He said the four SP MLAs would extend support to a non-Rashtriya Janata Dal, non-Bharatiya Janata Party combination in Bihar.

Pahelwan, however, refused to dilvulge details of the talks. "Things are moving in a positive direction and a popular government will soon be in place," he said.

Nitish gave Pahelwan a copy of the Common Minimum Programme of his party.

Meanwhile, a three-day conclave of the Lok Janshakti Party began in Patna on Saturday to review the post-assembly poll scenario in the state.

The conclave comes barely two days after a similar convention of the JD-U.

Paswan on Friday said he would not be averse to outside support from the BJP under some conditions.
