Post offices to diversify, sell tea

September 30, 2004 12:51 IST

Select post offices in north Bengal and Sikkim are all set to start selling quality Darjeeling tea from October, a senior official of the postal department said in Siliguri.

The move would benefit both the postal department and the tea industry, Postmaster General of North Bengal and Sikkim John Samuel said on Thursday.

Post offices in Darjeeling, Kurseong, Kalimpong, Siliguri, Gangtok and Jalpaiguri have been earmarked for the purpose.

The postal department also decided to bring out a catalogue about different brands of tea to help customers choose from the available products.
