An Indian was among five workers killed when a part of a wall collapsed at a construction site at Dubai Airport on Monday. Twelve others were also injured in the incident.

However, Al Arabiya television said at least eight workers were killed. The accident occurred at 10.45am (local time) at the construction site of the new terminal when a section of the reinforcement cage collapsed, an official statement said.

The injured were sent to Rashid and Baraha hospital. "Of the five bodies at the police mortuary, only one was of an Indian," officials at the Indian consulate said quoting the police. Details of the Indian victim were not available.

The president of the Department of Civil Aviation and Chairman of the Emirates Group, Sheikh Ahmed bin Sayeed Ali Maktoum, said an investigation would be held into the accident.
