The meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Pervez Musharraf in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly will unfold the direction of Indo-Pak relations, according to Islamabad.

"We will never compromise on the Kashmir issue," Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said.

The progress in relations with India in all fields should hinge on progress on the Kashmir issue, he said.

He said Pakistan is striving for peace with all countries and good relations with its neighbours. "Pakistan has no aggressive designs against any country…" the official APP news agency quoted him as saying.

Aziz said the key factors of Pakistan's foreign policy are mutual respect and its own national interests.

About ties between Pakistan and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, he said the inclusion of Pakistan in the forum has highlighted the country's importance in the region. "We are trying to boost economic cooperation with ASEAN member states."
