Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed's nephew was abducted along with another person by unindentified militants in Bejibehara, the Muftis' home town in south Kashmir in Anantnag district, on Thursday morning.
A senior police officer said the gunmen abducted Mufti Sarwar and another person, identified as Muzamil Ahmed, from their respective homes in Bejibehara.
A police team has rushed to the town.
In 1989, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front militants had kidnapped the Mufti's younger daughter, Rubaiya Sayeed. She was released in exchange for half a dozen jailed militants of the outfit.
