September 17, 2004 15:51 IST

Major Surinder Singh, accused of faking encounters in Siachen glacier, is likely to be court-martialled, military sources said in Jodhpur on Friday.

The army headquarters has completed examination of the summary of evidence in the case, recorded by a military court in Jodhpur, the sources said.

Earlier, disciplinary action was taken against Maj Singh, then commander of the Alpha Company of Gorkha Rifles deployed in Siachen, for making exaggerated claims last year.

During recording of the summary of evidence, 21 prosecution witnesses and seven defence witnesses were examined.
