Living in peace is now considered an art," says a representative of the International Association of Human Values.

"Though history abounds in preachers of peace, the ideology has got short shrift with the rising levels of conflict and violence."

Using its renowned stress-elimination programmes, the Art of Living Foundation has been able to resolve the complex conundrum of preaching peace to people who have never experienced it.

"Finding the root causes of the problems of war and violence is a difficult puzzle," says volunteer Mamta Kaikhura. "Attempts to bring peace in society have been largely confined to the realms of economics and politics. What is often missing is a spiritual perspective. That's where we have been making a difference."
