October 29, 2004 17:33 IST

Veerappan was ambushed and killed by a team led by STF chief K Vijayakumar when the bandit was being driven in an ambulance to a hospital on October 18.

STF's Karnataka chief Jyothi Prakash Mirji saidthe diary is with theDharmapuri police, who have taken over the investigations from the STF.

Mirji, however, said he had not seen the contents of the diary.

Many believe that Veerappan's death has left several questions unanswered, particularly allegations of political patronage.
