Desertion grips Jharkhand JD(U)

October 27, 2004 22:06 IST

Two days ahead of the Janata Dal(U) national executive meeting in Ranchi, Jharkhand, four of its MLAs quit the organisation.

''We are quitting from the primary membership of the JD(U) as it has been ignoring important issues,'' MLA Ramesh Singh Munda, convenor of the Jharkhand Bacchao Sangharsh Manch, told a public rally on Wednesday.

The other three leaders are Lalchand Mahto, Madhu Singh and Ram Chandra Kesri, all MLAs.

Chief Minister Arjun Munda had been advised to sack Mahto by party president George Fernandes some time ago.
