Cong may give NCP two deputy CMs
October 26, 2004 15:26 IST
As the stalemate over chief ministership in Maharashtra lingered, the Congress is said to be now seriously considering the Nationalist Congress Party's demand for two deputy chief ministers in lieu of the top post.
Earlier, after an hour-long meeting with Sonia Gandhi, Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters that "it [the issue of chief ministership) will be resolved today."
Asked whether any meeting between Gandhi and NCP chief Sharad Pawar was scheduled, party general secretary Ahmed Patel said: "Not so far."
The Congress on Sunday had offered three additional ministerial berths and two more portfolios to the NCP.
