Lalu enters Limca Book of Records

October 17, 2004 17:44 IST

Rashtriya Janata Dal president and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav has entered the Limca Book of Records for being the longest serving president of a political party in the country.

Limca Book of Records officials handed over a certificate to Yadav to this effect last week, sources said.

Prasad has been RJD president ever since 1997, when the party was formed. He was re-elected last year for the third time.

Unlike the constitution of most other parties, which restricts a person to stay as president for not more than two terms, there is no such limitation in the RJD's constitution.
