Cabinet OKs special adviser post for Manipur

The Union Cabinet has approved a proposal to create a post of special adviser for violence-torn Manipur.
On Wednesday, it gave approval for the proposal mooted by the Union home ministry, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters in Delhi. An officer of the rank of additional secretary will be appointed to the post.
Manipur has been experiencing unrest on account of the people's unhappiness with the alleged misuse of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act. They are demanding that it be repealed.
