Man arrested in NHPC engineers' kidnap case

The police arrested an alleged kidnapper of the abducted National Hydel Power Corporation engineers from neighbouring Maharajganj Saturday after raiding several places in the district and surrounding areas.

Vinod Tewari, seen alongwith the abducted engineers earlier, was arrested from Mujari village of Maharajganj following several raids, a spokesman in the Superintendent of Police, Maharajganj office told PTI.

Official sources said search was continuing jointly by the Gorakhpur and Bihar police and raids were conducted at several places in the district and surrounding areas to the arrest the kidnappers who had abducted the two engineers while on their way to Bettiah in West Champaran district on October 19.

Tewari alongiwth one Pintu Tewari were allegedly involved in the case and had been seen along with the abducted engineers, they said.

The sources exuded confidence that more arrests will be made and Mandal will be rescued soon.

One of the two, K K Singh, chief engineer of NHPC was freed unharmed Friday by a team of Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police following a raid on a hideout in Gorakhpur district.
