Chidambaram's party to merge with Cong

November 25, 2004 15:12 IST

Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram's erstwhile Congress Jananayaga Peravai (Democratic Forum) will merge with Congress in New Delhi on Thursday.

The merger will complete the process of homecoming of Chidambaram's followers who had contested Lok Sabha elections from Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu on Congress tickets.

The Congress Jananayaga Peravai is an offshoot of the Tamil Maanila Congress led by late G K Moopanar, which had merged with Congress two years ago.
