Portal for Hindu news launched

A Web site, claimed to be the first Hindu news portal using a technology similar to the one used by Google News, has been launched.

Sarve Samachar Hindu News Service Limited, sponsored by the Viraat Hindu Sabha, delivers content from over 30 online newspapers, news agencies and other sources.

The site, just like Google News, automatically crawls and indexes fresh content every 30 minutes. In addition, the site employs a unique metric based on popularity and date to highlight only the most relevant and interesting content.
Besides aggregating news headlines, the site also collects latest articles, columns and editorials from across the Web.

The site collects the latest Reuters/Associated Press photos regarding Hinduism, features a daily verse from the Swami Sivananda's translation of Bhagavad Gita and attempts to filter out Bollywood and Hinduphobic news.

According to the sponsors, with headlines concerning Hindus scattered over scores of newspapers, the fully automated Sarve Samachar guarantees to provide a "one-stop shop" for the latest Hindu news.
