Arafat's wife slams aides

November 08, 2004 10:23 IST

As French doctors treating Yasser Arafat leaders declared that he was not brain dead, his wife Suha lashed out at the Palestinian leaders aides, saying they wanted to 'bury him alive.'

In a telephone interview with Al Jazeera television from the ailing leader's bedside , Suha Arafat accused senior Palestinian leaders of trying to 'usurp' her husband's role as the leader of the Palestinian people.

``Let it be known to the honest Palestinian people that a bunch of those who want to inherit are coming to Paris. You have to realize the size of the conspiracy. I tell you they are trying to bury Abu Ammar (Arafat) alive.

``He is all right and he is going home. God is great.''

Earlier, Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Shaath told CNN that "The latest information ... is that his condition is stable. It's almost the same as it was three days ago.

"He is in a coma, but it is a reversible coma. All his vital functions are fine okay. There is no brain damage, no liver damage, no damage at all in his vital organs," he said.
