May 29, 2004 19:22 IST

Rebel Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Purushottam Solanki, who was at the forefront of a demand for the removal of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday 'apologised' for his utterances.

Solanki, who was served a show cause notice by the BJP high command on Friday, has described his utterances as an 'emotional outburst' and said that he is 'sorry' about it, party's state unit president Rajendrasinh Rana told PTI in Ahmedabad.

Asked whether he was satisfied with Solanki's reply to the notice, Rana said, "Asked to clarify about the utterances, he has apologised. I have received his apology letter and talked to BJP national president M Venkaiah Naidu about it."

He evaded a direct reply when asked whether the prevailing crisis could be deemed as over for the time being.
