Army major shot dead in Bihar

An Army major was on Tuesday shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Danapur Cantonment area on the outskirts of Patna, police said.

Major Surendra Roy of the Bihar Regimental Centre was shot dead by three gunmen when he was moving on Gola Road on a motorbike, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Danapur) Anwar Hussain told PTI.

The culprits then fled with the motorbike, he said adding the attack had led to tension in the area.

Senior police officials, including Superintendent of Police Amrit Raj, were camping at the spot while a search is on for the killers.
