Rajasthan Cong chief killed in mishap

Rajya Sabha member and executive president of the Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee, Abrar Ahmed, and two others died in a road accident in Tonk district early on Tuesday, police said.

The accident occurred when the car, in which Ahmed was travelling from Jaipur to Jhalawar, collided head on with a truck near Devali, 7km from Tonk, at around 0400 IST, Tonk Superintendent of Police Janardan Sharma said.

The deceased include Ahmed's driver and an aide, he said, adding that the Congress leader's personal security officer was injured in the accident and admitted to a hospital.

Ahmed is survived by his wife and two children.
